Daily Gleanings: 1 Enoch (22 November 2019)

Larry Hurtado abstracts some of the key points from Loren Stuckenbruck’s lecture, which he co-authored with Ted Erho, on 1 Enoch at the 2019 meeting of the International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament.

The comments mostly stress the difficulty of locating a Second Temple text for 1 Enoch and the variety of textual sources for the work that aren’t accounted for in its available editions.

According to Hurtado,

Stuckenbruck’s paper will be published in the Proceedings of the IOSOT meeting in Aberdeen in due course.

For the balance of Hurtado’s summary, see his original blog post.
